The Ayush Vertical under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provides technical support to both the Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in developing strategies and action plans for Ayush in public health, health care, and Ayush education and training. It acts as a repository of technical knowledge pertaining to the Ayush sector and involve in developing Public Health Standards for Ayush healthcare institutions, Standard Treatment Guidelines, standards for instruments and pharmacovigilance of ASU & H drugs. It also monitors the functioning of Ayush units at Central Government Hospitals. Functional areas of Ayush vertical at DGHS include Ayush education & practices, Public health & Ayush services, IEC and capacity building, International Promotion of Ayush, Ayush Research Coordination, Drug administration, Quality control & standardization, Ayush Health Information System & Statistics, and Human Resource Cell.
It is also envisaged that the vertical to coordinate with the Ayush/Health Directorates of all States/UTs for rendering the technical support for various National Ayush Health Programmes through its proposed Regional Offices.
