National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is an apex organization for implementing the National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP) and to carry out activities as per Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA) 1994. NOTTO provides an efficient and organized system of organ procurement and distribution in the country and maintains the national registry of donors and recipients of organs and tissues.

Scope of Services

As mandated under THOTA, central government has established National Human Organs and Tissues Removal and Storage Network which consists of one NOTTO at Safdarjung Hospital campus in New Delhi, 5 Regional Organs and Tissue Transplant Organizations (ROTTO), and 21 State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organizations (SOTTO) till date which network with 865 hospitals/institutions, including organ and tissue transplantation, organ retrieval and tissue banking.

NOTTO engages with various stakeholders namely Ministries and Departments of Government of India, State Governments, Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisations (ROTTOs), State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisations (SOTTOs), medical and para-medical institutions, youth groups, NGOs etc to raise awareness on organ donation throughout the year
